Tropical World normally closes at 6:00pm in summer and 4:00pm in winter, as the venue is largely dependant on natural light.
The existing lighting would not have met Health and safety requirements. We have been unable to satisfactorily resolve the issue of additional lighting to meet the standard to allow visitors to fully appreciate the Tropical World environment.
We are continuing to negotiate with Tropical World's owners, Leeds City Council, who are being fully cooperative and supportive with regard to a naturist evening at Tropical World.
It is now felt that the event should take place in the early summer of 2009, when we will have the advantage of natural daylight well into the evening. It is hoped that an outdoor sitting area may also be available.
